Travel tips

By plane

Stansted Airport (~45 min) is by far the most accessible airport, since there are direct and frequent train and bus connection to Cambridge. From Luton (1h30+waiting for the coach) it is normally most convenient to travel to Cambridge using the National Express coach service which runs every other hour (booking in advance is cheaper!). If arriving in Heathrow/Gatwick (2-3h), trains running through London are the fastest way. For Heathrow the cheapest option is to take the Piccadilly Line from the airport terminal until King's Cross and then take the train to Cambridge. It is normally the easiest to buy train tickets at the airport, but they can otherwise be pre-ordered for pickup through takethetrain.co.uk (no extra fees, but poor search function) or trainline.com (better search function, but small extra fee added to the price).

By train

From London there are many direct connections to Cambridge with the fastest being from London King's Cross (50m - 1h20). From the main station (and not Cambridge North), you can take bus U straight to the Møller Centre or some of the other Citi busses to the central bus hub and change to Citi 5. Train tickets can be pre-ordered through takethetrain.co.uk (no extra fees, but poor search function) or trainline.com (better search function, but small extra fee added to the price).

From Paris/Brussels (or other Eurostar destinations), the Eurostar train may be much more convenient than flying, and is definitely worth considering.

By bike

Ofo bikes is a cheap bike sharing scheme that runs in Cambridge and worldwide. You can lock and unlock the bikes via a very accessible app. You can also rent a bike from local shops around Cambridge but it tends to be more expensive.

By car

Set the destination to CB3 0DE. Complimentary parking is available.
